| Arthur | Thanks. Yes, she is a beautiful little girl. I can't tell you how exciting it is for me to be a father. However, I do have a sense of responsibility now which I never felt before. I feel I have to be planning not only for my wife's and my future but for the future of our baby. That's the reason I came to see you today. |
| Jason | The best way to immediately provide for the security of your family in the future is by the use of life insurance. | |
| Arthur | I've been thinking about life insurance, but I really don't know too much about it. |
| Jason | Life insurance is the best way for a young man like you to provide an immediate estate for his family in case of his death. | |
| Arthur | Yes, I understand it, but I don't know what kind of insurance to buy or how much insurance I should have. |
| Jason | Well, there are two basic kinds of insurance, whole life and term insurance. Whole life insurance is the best is the best investment because it develops cash value, so even if you don't die, it will be worth money to you. Term insurance on the other hand is cheaper to buy, but it doesn't develop any cash value. It is only of value if you die during the term of the policy. |
| Arthur | I really don't have a lot of money now to spend on life insurance, but I do want my family to be protected in case anything should happen to me. |
| Jason | I think I would recommend that you buy term insurance now. Perhaps you would want to convert that a whole life policy a few years down the road. That would give you the coverage you need now at the lowest possible price. |
| Arthur | How much insurance do I need? | |
| Jason | You need enough to provide for the care of your family during the growing years of your child. How much do you think that would take? |
| Arthur | I've been thinking about that. It would require at least $200000. | |
| Jason | It is wise to buy insurance while you are young because the premium is much lower then. Let's see, that would cost you only 200000 of coverage. |
| Arthur | I'm convinced. Write up a policy for me. |

A new study shows that more than 26 million people in China suffer from depression, but only 10 percent of them are being treated. Unfortunately, most diagnosed patients refuse to receive drug therapy because of its side effects.
With the increasing amount of competition and pressure from work and life, people are easily to suffer from depression, which is a serious matter in contemporary society. Depression not only affects one's attitude towards life but also constraints one's growth and improvement. Sometimes, it can even lead to suicide.
There are some ways that we can do to deal with the depression. First, no matter how busy we are, we should learn to relax. Second, We should create positive emotions instead of negative ones. Third, we had better take some medicines to prevent or treat this disease. After all, compared with Suffering from the disease, side effects of those pills are minimal. In other words, we should take depression seriously and take effective measures to deal with it.

Nowadays, in China, more and more lovers are likely to get married on May 20th than on Valentine's Day, which is becoming a trend.
Most people can appreciate the romantic connotations that sounds similar to "wo ai ni" in Chinese behind the special date, while some men complain it because this means they need remember more days and buy some presents.
May 20 is undoubtedly a romantic date for everyone. In fact, Whichever day lovers choose to get married, as long as they love each other, every day will be a memorable day for them. So they needn't deliberately jump on the bandwagon. Not all of the days are costly, the most important thing is one's mind.
In conclusion. for everyone, love should be shown in daily life instead of some so-called "important occasions".

| Dreifus: | So you oppose the idea of national origins being a factor in immigration policy. But the new bill requires that any American wishing to sponsor immigrants must have an income 125 percent above the poverty level. Previously, a sponsor needled only an income at poverty level. Doesn't this discriminate against immigrants from poor countries? |
| Meissner: | This was something we opposed. At first, Congress had this at 200 percent, then 140 percent; 125 percent was the compromise. | |

| Meissner: | No. I also disagree with the similar notion of barring the U. S. -born children of illegals from citizenship. Now, it used to be that a child born in the United States would create the basis for the parents getting legal status. That has been changed -- the parents cannot get legal status until this child is 21. Its hard to imagine that people come and have a baby for the sake of waiting 21 years in order to get legal status. |

| Harmer: | Why did you you accept such a difficult position? | |
| Richard: | I was given very little time to decide whether or not to accept the job, but I took it after consultation with members of the then new South African government, including President Nelson Mandela. It was aggreed that it was an important job-- important from a human rights point of view, especially an international human rights point of view, and also because it was the first, important position offered to a South African since South Africa's readmission into the international community. But obviously I was very frustrated at having to work outside South Africa at what would be, for me, the most exciting period of South African history. |
| Harmer: | Why do you think war crimes trials are so important? | |
| Richard: | Throughout the 20th Century there has been a history of cycles of violence, such as in countries like Rwandan. And I believe that the only way to advoid future cycles of violence is to have some sort of justice at the end of a violent period. In that way, victims can at least have the comfort of some sort of official acknowledgement, and then the healing process can begin. Otherwise, feelings of injustice and revenge can develop--certainly if the violence is on a massive scale. |

I mean, there were big, difficult decisions to be taken during the Gulf War, but looking back, they seemed very straightforward -- big decisions easily taken. Bosnia wasn't like that, We were feeling our way all the time with the French, We Were sometimes at odds with the Americans, and even the Germans, We were doing what we thought was best to rescue the situation, and it took a very ,very long time and there were many tragic I moments during that time. |
| Sophie Wigram: | You, and the British government, were criticized for being too cautious over Bosnia-- for not making an active enough commitment to stopping the war. Is that criticism valid? |
| Douglas Hurd: | We were mainly criticized by people who were doing much less than we were. The criticism came from America and from Germany, and I don't accept that. The question in my mind is whether we could all -- Europeans and Americans -- have done something earlier, before people started killing each other. But at the end of the day, peace came when those who were fighting were exhausted of fighting and had had enough of it. |
